Terra Incognito has a strong educational committment to the ceramic arts. We have an ongoing visiting artist series, which brings in top names from the field, plus, a full exhibition schedule of established and emerging artists. We are especially proud of our Resident/Intern program, which has been able to nurture and aid several young people as they choose their next steps in their ceramics career.

Both of our locations (La Grange and Oak Park) are diversified spaces with our main focus on the Ceramic Arts. Our facilities include classrooms (with gas, electric, Raku, wood and soda firing kilns), artists' studios, (semi-private and private), a fully equipped fabrication studio for silver and other metal working classes (at our La Grange location only), multi-purpose/party rooms, and galleries exhibiting works by some of the nation's finest craftspeople. We also offer classes in Silver Jewelry and Basket Making. The interplay of artists' studios, classes and galleries makes Terra Incognito, in Oak Park and LaGrange, exciting places to create, learn, party and shop.

Mission Statement

At Terra Incognito we are committed to increasing the awareness and appreciation of the ceramic arts. We have a particular affinity to artists
exploring the ceramic vessel, either literally or metaphorically.

Our goals are:

  1. To encourage and promote work of the highest quality through exhibition and representation in our gallery.

  2. To provide a welcoming and energetic educational environment for
    students of ceramics.

  3. To provide educational opportunities for artists, and the general community,
through our regularly scheduled visiting artist workshop series.

  4. To foster a strong community among those who share our enthusiasm
    for the ceramic arts.
